On February 23, a visit by foreign students of the KDI School of Policy and Management was held in the main auditorium of the KRIHS. Eunmo Yang, Associate Research Fellow at the GDPC, introduced the KRIHS based on the background of its establishment, major research areas, organizational structure, recent trends, and major cooperation plans. Thereafter, GDPC Director Youn Hee Jeong gave a lecture on the history of urbanization, economic growth, and infrastructure development in South Korea under the theme of ‘Urban Development Policies in Korea.’ In particular, examples of new city development policies were introduced, including land readjustment, the Gangnam New Town development, new town plans in the metropolitan area, and the Sejong City plans, and the implications of South Korea’s urban development were shared. This event provided an opportunity to share experiences of urban development in South Korea with KDI School students and to tell them how the KRIHS and the GDPC are conducting research and cooperation in relation to land and cities.
