The 7th KRIHS-IDB Urban Development Academy Small Private Online Couse Live Session

On August 17, 2023, Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) held the final session of the seventh KRIHS–IDB Urban Development Academy Small Private Online Course. This course was held on May 23–July 20, 2023, and was participated in by 31 public officials from nine countries.

At the beginning of the final session, Veronica Adler, the principal specialist of IDB, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of capacity-building programs for urban development in Latin American and Caribbean countries. She also expressed her appreciation for the continued work of the program officers and participants despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nine institutions presented their respective project proposals along with their countries’ specific backgrounds and their expected achievements through the project.

In particular, Colombia and Panama proposed projects focused on transportation, and Costa Rica showed interest in institutional improvements for urban regeneration. Colombia and El Salvador showed that land policies and projects related to securing housing sites could be intensively promoted, even at present.

As a subsequent action, KRIHS and IDB will look for feasible projects that can be implemented in the countries that presented, based on their proposals.
