International School of Urban Studies at University of Seoul – KRIHS Workshop

 

Theme: Introduction of national territorial policy and planning

Global Development Partnership Center at the Korean Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) held workshop on June 14 (Wed), 2017 for students from International School of Urban Studies at University of Seoul. This workshop was requested by International School of Urban Studies at University of Seoul which runs the Master program for officials from developing countries. Those officials and related people (Hnin Ei Mon, from Myanmar and 20 people) in Territorial and City Development sectors visited KRIHS.


In the workshop, Heeyoun You, the Assistant Research Fellow at GDPC, explained organization and functions of KRIHS and GDPC, Dr. Jeongho Moon from Territorial & Regional Policy Research Center introduced about territorial development plan and regional development policy of Korea. In addition to that, Dr. Sangkeon Lee from Infrastructure Policy Research Center presented about city development plan of Sejong Multifunctional Administrative City. Lastly, Jinkyu Chung, the Director at GDPC, mentioned that KRIHS has a willingness to build mutual cooperation with countries that those officials are from.


Visitors from University of Seoul discussed about KRIHS’ budget structure and actual implementation process of territorial policy and plan, linkage between each industrial sector and policy, issues to be concerned for low-income group in new city development in developing countries and conflict resolution in city development project, etc. This workshop can be considered as a meaningful chance to seek the mutual cooperation between KRIHS and International School of Urban Studies at University of Seoul and officials’ countries of origin.
