The Global Development Partnership Center (GDPC) of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) on September 7 (Wednesday) hosted the KRIHS-KOICA Workshop on Regional Development Policy for Mozambique at KRIHS' 10th-floor Conference Room. Per an invitation from Korea Institute for Rural Development, which runs a program to boost the capacity of regional development policy of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), 12 Mozambican officials and related figures, including Anisio Andre Chemane from the Ministry of Planning and Development, visited Korea.

Lee Won-sup, director of the KRIHS Planning and Management Division, expressed the institute's intent to pursue mutual cooperation with Mozambique in his opening speech in the workshop. Chung Il-ho, managing director of the GDPC, then gave an explanation of the organization and functions of KRIHS and GDPC.

After hearing the introduction of KRIHS, the Mozambican public officials' delegation held a discussion on territorial planning framework and methodology, the structure of KRIHS' budgetary burden and ways of general land development including that of rural areas for creating effects of agglomeration economies in city. The workshop was considered meaningful in that both KRIHS and the Mozambican delegation sought to find ways of mutual cooperation.
