KRIHS inks MOU with Paraguay’s SENAVITAT

The Global Development Partnership Center of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) sealed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Secretary of Housing and Habitat (SENAVITAT) and convened a meeting to discuss businesses for future sustainable partnership in the SENAVITAT headquarters on July 15.

 

Minister Soledad Núñez of the SENAVITAT expressed his intent on building a continued, close partnership with the Korean think tank after attending the KRIHS-IDB Urban Development Academy (KIUDA) event hosted by the KRIHS on May 23-28. Accordingly, the SENAVITAT signed an MOU with the KRIHS in an effort to lay out a master plan to tackle Bañado Sur, the submerged area of Asuncion, as well as to receive consulting on the foundation of think tanks specializing in territorial and urban fields and revitalize knowledge exchange. The ceremony for signing the MOU was attended by vice minister Amilcar Guillen Miltos of the SENAVITAT, director Carolina Caceres of the SENAVITAT, Myungjae Han, the Korean ambassador to Paraguay, Handeok Cho, the director of the KOICA in Paraguay, Dongju Kim, the president of the KRIHS, Ilho Chung, the director of the GDPC at the KRIHS, and Soyoung Lee, an assistant research fellow at the KRIHS.

 

In addition, a group of experts from the KRIHS held a business meeting to explore cooperation projects with the SENAVITAT in Paraguay on July 11-15. Upon the request from the SENAVITAT, the KRIHS provided consulting on the establishment of a master plan for the flooded area of Asuncion, the development project of Mariano Roque Alonso, and the foundation of research institutes specializing in territorial and urban fields, and also shared Korea’s experience on relevant development. Building on the MOU and the business meeting, they agreed to further cement partnership and promote knowledge exchange through consulting and technical cooperation projects.
