Date: April 7, 2021
Venue: : KRIHS, Sejong, Korea (Online)
On April 7, 2021, the Korean Peninsula and East Asia Research Center and the Global Development Partnership Center at KRIHS held a virtual workshop on the study of the sophistication of the ASEAN Smart City Solution Package for the Greater Korea-ASEAN Cooperation. The purpose of this event was to share the research and survey results, promote the K-City Network program of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and discuss future cooperation plans between Korea and the ASEAN.
The event was attended by officials from domestic institutions, such as the Presidential Committee on New Southern Policy, the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), and the Korea Environment Institute (KEI). A total of 19 people from seven ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore) participated through video conferencing.
Officials from KRIHS, KEI, and KOTI introduced the research and survey results, and the head of the KAIA Smart City Project Group encouraged ASEAN officials to participate in the K-City Network program by providing guidelines for the outline, proposal method, and schedule of the program.
This workshop was considered to be effective, as it explored future smart city-related
cooperation plans between Korea and the ASEAN by introducing sectoral cooperation
directions and suggestions through supply and demand analysis
