In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Environmental Planning Institute of Seoul National University, the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) jointly hosted a two-day (January 21 and 22, 2021) international symposium with the institute and the Korea Land & Housing Corporation. The event was held to introduce the latest domestic and overseas studies as well as the tasks and trends regarding the importance of space and environment as key settings for enhancing human health. The symposium is also intended to be developed into a platform on which the host institution can establish its status as a specialized leader in research and practice on the spatial environment as an avenue for health improvement at home and abroad.

KRIHS President Hyun Soo Kang delivered a welcome speech to begin the event. The program featured presentations by external guest speakers on the topic “City, Green, Environment, and Health”; major presentations on urban planning, landscaping, and the environment; and Q&A sessions. This international symposium also introduced studies that are actively discussed not only in Western countries but also in regions such as China and Japan
