Objectives
  • To Provide APG with consulting services for the project named NIUM, which is a part of the capacity building component of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Development Project (APMDP) and is funded by the WB and the Indian government
  • To discuss the necessary steps for organizing a study visit to Korea with NIUA for the Indian Government officials, scheduled for August 2012

Contents
  • Discussion on Consulting Services for Establishing the National Institute of Urban Management
    • On May 30, the GDPC team held a meeting with Mr. Raghu Kesavan, Senior Specialist for Infrastructure at the WB, at the WB India Office in Delhi. He provided the general background for this project, discussing necessary points for the meeting with the APG.
    • On May 31 and June 1, the GDPC team had meetings with the government officials of the APG. Mr. Bhaskar Katamneni, Program Director of the APG, other APG officials, and the GDPC team shared the project concepts and discussed necessary steps to realize the project.
    • The APG and the GDPC team jointly drafted the "Road Map of Activities Agreed for the Establishment of NIUM" and agreed to formulate more concrete measures for the project as well as conclude an MOU between KRIHS and the APG in the near future.
  • Meeting Held with the National Institute of Urban Affairs in India
    • On May 30, the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) requested KRIHS to conduct a study tour program for India's joint secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), city mayors, and officials who are interested in studying how Korea and its key cities have mobilized private financing for urban infrastructure delivery, given its extensive and successful experience in Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
    • The GDPC plans to design and implement the study tour program so that the participants could fully experience the urban infrastructure of Korea, related Financing, and other topics of interest.
