Contents
  • On December 10 to 11, 2012, a workshop with the World Bank officials including Peter D. Ellis (Lead Urban Specialist) and Zhiyu Jerry Chen (Urban Economist) was held to discuss an invitational training program for Sri Lanka's high profile officials for the UKP Academy program. The GDPC delegation and the WB officials also discussed the week training program scheduled to be held on the following themes: The success story of Korea, a Competitive Economy including tourism development, Sustainable Environment and Greening, Waterfront development, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and development financing for Infrastructure.
  • On December 10, 2012, a meeting between the GDPC and the Ministry of Defense and Urban Development (MDUD), Sri Lanka was held in the Ministry office. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary of the Ministry, Rohan Seneviratne, Additional Secretary of the Ministry and other officials joined the meeting.
    During the meeting with Minister Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Vice Minister, ideas were exchanged on establishing a national research institute, training, knowledge exchange cooperation, and private-public-partnership for urban development. Furthermore, active cooperation such as an MoU and establishment of a national research institute between KRIHS and the MDUD was promised.
