GDPC 10th Anniversary Webinar

GDPC was established ten years ago on December 30, 2011. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the center, GDPC held an Webinar on December 3, 2020. KRIHS President, Hyun Soo Kang delivered a congratulatory address and said, “I hope GDPC will continue the new andinnovative adventure to share Korea’s territorial development experience and knowledge accumulated by KRIHS.” Director of GDPC, Sehoon Park gave an opening remark, saying, “On the knowledge exchange platform built through GDPC’s ten years of activities, GDPC will nurture the value of the cooperation and trust with global communities.” Mr. Sameh Naguib Wahba, Global Director of the World Bank, Ms. Tatiana Gallego Lizon, Division Chief of IDB, and Mr. Ajmal Shams, former Deputy Director of Ministry of Urban Development & Land, Afghanistan sent video congratulatory remarks as well to celebrate GDPC’s tenth anniversary.


For the first presentation, “Sharing knowledge and building trust,” Sehoon Park gave an overview of the ten-year history of GDPC and future plan for the next ten years. The next presentation was delivered by Dr. Eunju Kim, Research Fellow of the Korean Institute of Public Administration on the subject of “Policy suggestion for international developmentcooperation in the era of COVID-19.”


For the last session, the Director General of National Geographic Information Institute, Hosang Sakong, who was the first director of GDPC, led the discussion as a chair. There were five representatives that participated from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, KDI, and KOICA including the third former Director of GDPC, Dr. Ilho Chung. All participants had a meaningful discussion on the future direction of international development and GDPC itself.
