Organizing an international workshop on “Health Impact of Transit in Los Angeles and Seoul—Measuring Sustainability Goal of Rail Transit: An Experimental Evaluation of the Expo Line”

About|Health Impact of Transit in Los Angeles & Seoul

Researchers from the University of Southern California (USC) visited to KRIHS to attend a workshop, on May 29. This was part of a joint research with Dr. Moon Jeongho, Director of the Global Development Partnership Center (GDPC). The workshop started with a presentation by Professor Marlon G. Boanet, the director of the graduate programs in urban planning course at the USC, and Mr. Andy Hong, a Ph.D student of the course. After the first presentation, Dr. Ahn Yongjin from the Daegu University continued the workshop.
  First, Professor Boanet explained the research procedure that was conducted in Los Angeles. He had compared the impacts of public transportation before and after the construction of Expo-Line. Dr. Ahn presented the scope of the research and methods that can apply to Korean context. 
  This international workshop by the USC and KRIHS has a significance in a way that it was the first step to conduct joint research with overseas organizations. Recommending research direction, it also provided a foundation for further research cooperation with overseas organizations.
