Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Workshop at KRIHS

The Global Development Partnership Center (GDPC) invited Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and organized a workshop. The workshop was to discuss recent regional development issues and trends in Korea, especially focusing on the metropolitan transportation and rapid transit railways, and to seek future cooperation between SCAG and KRIHS.
  Starting with an introduction of KRIHS and the GDPC  by Dr. Cho Chunman, experts of KRIHS and SCAG had about an hour-long discussion. Along with the Director Moon Jeongho, Jo Jincheol, Deputy Director of the GDPC, Lee Wonsup, the director of National Territorial Planning and Research Division, Dr. Kwon Youngsub, Dr. Jeong Jingyu, and the senior advisor Choi Songsu participated in the discussion. The SCAG visitors showed deep interests in Korea’s land planning system, roles and responsibilities of the central and local governments in the planning, the process and achievements of the KTX (Korea Train Express) project, and public comments on the KTX. The visitors also concerned future cooperation plans that GDPC suggested, displaying their interests in seeking gradual and actual ways for cooperation.
