2014 Spatial Information Idea Contest

Date: August 25, 2014 Venue: COEX, Seoul The Geospatial Information Research Division at KRIHS held the 2014 Spatial Information Idea Contest at COEX, Seoul, on August 25th, 2014. It was held as part of the Smart Geospatial Expo 2014. Through document screening, a total of 40 creative ideas on geospatial information utilization (ten creative ideas in the four major categories of application development, big data utilization, policy proposal, and best practices of spatial information utilization) were chosen first, and then presented at the 2014 Spatial Information Idea Contest for final evaluation. Four winners were finally selected for each of the four categories (a total of 16 winners). Contest winners were granted a cash prize worth 500,000 to 5 million won and a certificate of award from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport or from the President of KRIHS. About 150 people including contestants, members of the judging panel, and other participants were present at the event. This contest is held every year, and particularly this year’s contest saw a significant increase in the number of entries from 62 to 102 and a great improvement in the overall quality of entries compared with last year.
