2014 Knowledge Sharing Program on Infrastructure for Hige-Level Officials From June 16 to June 20, the GDPC at KRIHS conducted a knowledge sharing program to share Korea’s knowledge and experiences on infrastructure development with high-ranking officials from developing countries. Government officials from Cambodia, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, the Republic of Ivory Coast, Bangladesh, and Indonesia were invited to this program, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and co-organized by KRIHS, the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), and Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT). This was the third round of the five events of the program scheduled this year. At the opening ceremony held at 6 p.m. on June 16 at the Renaissance Seoul Hotel, Woo Hyo-seob, president of the KICT, An Si-gwon, of MOLIT, and Tauch Chankosal, an official of the Cambodian government gave opening remarks, and Prof. Park Jin of KDI delivered the keynote address on "Infrastructure Development in Korea." Two hours prior to the ceremony, a business meeting was held between the foreign officials, seven Korean government organizations/government-run companies, and fourteen Korean construction and engineering companies, including Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction, POSCO E&C, and Sambo Engineering, providing a forum for them to broaden their networks. This program, commissioned by MOLIT, dealt with all categories of infrastructure―new town, urban transportation, water resources, road, housing, railroad, industrial complex, and airport―which set itself apart from previous training programs focused on a single category. The foreign participants, as well as attending lectures covering various topics concerning Korean infrastructure, visited the National Transport Information Center, "The Green," an exhibition center for promoting environmentally friendly housing, and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority.
